Why I am changing to calistenics from weight-lifting

In the first week of April 2018, I finished 3-months of intense weight lifting training with the help of a personal trainer. I learned a lot about myself during those 3-months and had time to better form my thoughts around my long term fitness goals.

This week I decided to shift my focus from weight-lifting to calisthenics. I see calisthenics as more suitable long term fitness lifestyle for myself. Aside: I thank my cousin Noel for inspiring me with his calisthenic gains!

Here a few of reasons why I find calisthenics appealing:

  • you learn how to better control your body with precision, as targeting specific muscle groups takes more thought without gym weights.
  • it’s a no excuse system, a gym is not required.
  • equipment is optional, but it makes things easier. I have a triple gym pull up bar, dip bar and jump rope at the moment.
