I completed my first Spartan race competing in the super level race at Monterey, California. It was challenging and fun. The best part about this experience is walking away knowing that I pushed myself to a new limit. Now, I’m excited about doing the next level race which is 15 miles. I need to prepare for a few months before doing that one however.
Spartan Race Tips
- If you’re taking a camera like a goPro, make sure to have at least 2 battery packs
- Bring gloves with grips to help you with the rope pulling obstacles
- Come well rested to the races
- Bring light weight running shoes with grip. I made the mistake of bringing lightweight weight trainning (trainers) and during the 6/8th mile my knees started hurting a lot. In hindsight, it was because my knees were absorbing too much impact from running downhill, as opposed to my shoes absorbing the impact. Running shoes would have prevented this.
